well, it all mainly depends on if the laptop has a graphics card or not. Even if it does, it'll be integrated, not dedicated, so it's not a good one. I never liked laptops for playing games, you know. And your processor sounds weak, most new games need more than that, it'll work if you have at least 2.4 GHz of processor. And you didn't even mention the graphics card, so we can't say anything yet, but only that it will not handle games which have high requirements, like crysis or GTA IV (that plays like crap anyway). It should handle mid-range and low-range games, should it have a good graphics card. The RAM is a bit too much, you usually don't need more than 4 GB to play games.
