  • Here is my system configuration: Intel 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB RAM, Window XP SP2 DVD/CD reader/writer (LG), 320 GB Seagate Barracuda Hard drive, nVidia GeForce ...show more

  • Answer:

You configuration is quite good. If you want to run latest games smoothly, I will suggest you to have a better Graphics (PCI-E) card. Preferebly Nvidia 8 series. If budget is not a problem, i will recommend you Nvidia - 8800 ultra. 8500 GT is the cheapest 8 series from Nvidia and its a good option too. Secondly you may like the performance after upgrading you Ram from 2 to 3 or 4 GB. Page file should be around 1.5 times of you RAM. In your case it should be 3072 MB. There no point exceeding this value. You will find the procedure for overclocking CPU in its manual as it differs from CPU to CPU. But I will not recommend overclocking as it may damage you processor. Also Novice may not find it easy to do it.

I think you could get a better videocard. That would enhance performance. Also, some videogames require Windows Vista. Overclocking your PC may break it. Some people overclocked it too hard and that caused a short-circuit. So don't overclock it. Watercooling things can broke and the water will be spitt on your computer, broking it up. you only need watercooling when your PC is overclocked.

Upgrade your graphics card (nVidia GeForce 7050) to a nVidia GeForce 9600GT, it's not too expensive, it should be less then $120.00, that's the only thing you really need to upgrade for your computer, try upgrading your RAM (2 GB RAM) to 3 or 4 GB RAM. Also, the good thing about nVidia cards are is that they usually aren't made in China, they are made in Taiwan. You don't need to overclock your processor.

Your PC seems more than adequate to play most modern video games. Just make sure you keep it defragmented and virus free. Also having a ridiculously large paging file probably won't help performance past ~2GB. Overclocking can be risky if you don't know what you're doing so I wouldn't recommend it without doing a good amount of research. However, some motherboard BIOS have very easy overclocking options so you could explore some in there. Be careful though. Your current video card seems fine but if you want to upgrade in the future check the reviews on newegg.com Water cooling is mostly for show or bragging rights unless you're overclocking. If you have nothing better to do with $500 go for it. A program called minimem allows you to optimize memory, otherwise just keep it clean and updated and it should run fine. I try to reformat every other month or so as windows machines notoriously slow down over time.

Yes your cpu should be fine for gaming. to make it perform better you have to configure your computer to run for best performance instead of best appearance. It may make the screen look older but it is well worth it! also, if you want a really good gaming pc i would recommend a MAC awesome!
