Your budget is very close, may need an extra £50 or so but here is my PC I built for roughly £600 ($950 in my case). I have: Asus P8Z77-V motherboard i5 3570k quad core Intel 120Gb 330 SSD Kingston 4 × 2 GB 1666Mhz ram Gigabyte HD 7950 GPU Rocketfish 600W PSU Zalman Z11+ case This setup can run everything maxed out. I run Far Cry 3 ultra spec at a smooth 80+ fps. Tomb raider a steady 70-80 fps. The only thing I would improve is the ram, but it more than suffices. Not to mention the room I have for over clocking is nuts, could achieve upwards of 15-20% higher frame rates then mentioned which would see me around 95 fps average. There are lesser components that will get you going, shaving off £100-200, but I would just get exactly as listed above (perhaps different ram) as it is perfect for gaming and will be for the foreseeable future. Plus this motherboard has a handy overclock switch you can flip and achieve an automatic 10-15% overclock with absolutely no knowledge of overclocking at all. This will result in a frame rate boost of 5-10%. Do not get anything other than a Solid state drive for the boot up, save the HDD for a later date when you need storage. Do not get a 1Gb or even 2Gb video card ( the one I mentioned is 3 GB ).
