What is the difference between the Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360?

  • Okay i have the Wii and when i played it it almost feels this is the enhanced version of the Gamecube which brings nothing new to the third console generation. That was just my ...show more

  • Answer:

If you consider the Wii, with its unique controls and original games, to be bringing "nothing new" to this generation of consoles compared to the GameCube, then you're going to be extremely disappointed, as the PS3 and 360 are nothing more than the PS1 and Xbox with higher resolution graphics.

i have all three, xbox 360 has good graphics but its just a faulty system to many problems and you have to pay for xbox live. wii is fun but not that advanced, PS3 is amazing and has cool features like media sharing, internet browser and using the web is free, GTA4 online is so sick

Wii is all about gameplay they wanted the motion sensing and the wii fit and all that stuff graphics suck and online is free but not to good. Ps3 pretty good system very good graphics free online which actually isnt that bad and quite a few fun games. Xbox good graphics not as good as the ps3 online is not free and to get wireless online it is a $100 but u can just lan line it but the online is by far the best there is. Basically wii has gameplay Ps3 has graphics and Xbox for a price has online.

This decision graph tells you all you need to know about the consoles: Do you have friends? .| +--- No ----> Use a PS3 .| Yes .| Online or "real" friends? .| +---- Online ---> Use the Xbox 360. .| Real .| V Use the Wii. Just like Krissy above, I own all three of the consoles. If I have a lot of friends at my place, we play with the Wii. Although the graphics are not that great on my HDTV compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3, it's almost the same on a standard TV, if I bring the Wii over to some friends. The resolution makes a big difference. The Wii games are the most fun of all three consoles. As for the Xbox 360, the online play far exceeds the offerings of the PS3's PSN. Furthermore, the Xbox 360 has better graphical hardware than the PS3 (see link below) And although the HD-DVD for HD movies failed, I can watch HD movies streamed through my network on the Xbox 360 with no problems. Without needing a BluRay or HD DVD drive. Also I can replace any game's music with my own MP3s, if I like. The Console mutes the game's music and keeps the sound effects normal, so I still know what's going on in the game. The PS3 is great for watching BluRay movies, if I'm too lazy to start the network server for the Xbox 360. And if I'm craving some Metal Gear Action the PS3 is great. However, most games available for more than one console are bought for the Xbox 360. Don't get me wrong: The PS3 is a good appliance. But the (exclusive) games are lacking. And the Xbox 360 versions offer me more functionality with the Live service and other goodies. Therefore, the main differences are: Wii: *The* Party Fun Machine. Xbox 360: The Do - it - all - multimedia - gaming - powerhouse PS3: Great BluRay Player.

I own all three and there are a lot of differences with playing. When I'm with my friends or family, I usually play Wii. Of course it's more fun -- you get to move around and look slightly ridiculous. The graphics are mediocre, but sort of like they've always been. I don't even bother playing Red Steel or any of my other "real" games on Wii because I find it hard to point at the TV and shoot stuff and I can't get used to the controls now spread out on two Wiimotes. I mostly stick to Wiisports and DDR, but the thing with the Wii is I never really find myself playing BY MYSELF. It is a great entertaining console and great for parties and for the price it's quite worth it. The graphics are okay, it's pretty darn fun, and the whole range from tots-teens-adults-seniors can play it. Xbox 360 I'm not a huge fan of, maybe it's because I have Arcade? I'm not sure. The wireless is great but sometimes my controllers aren't very responsive. I have Rockband 1 for Xbox and my guitar doesn't go onto overdrive well, but that's probably not Xbox fault. ANYWAY, I don't particularly like to subscribe and pay fees and it seems like any fun additions you have to pay for in the marketplace. However, this seems like THE gamer's console - everyone I know has an account and is on it playing Halo and what not. I think it's really popular because 1) It came out between the PS2 and the PS3, and the PS2 was old news and the 360 had better graphics and of course the online play. 2) It's quite a bit cheaper then the superior PS3. 3) Did I mention online play/marketplace? You can buy addons, and it seems everything needed for "funner" play is an addon. I play this usually when my friends come over, or online. And finally the PS3. My uncle tried to have some setting to stream videos from his hard drive upstairs, but I particularly like this one the best. Why? 1) I grew up on the Play Station controls and I'm not exactly totally comfortable with the Xbox controls. 2) I'm an avid fan of GTA and no way would I settle for Xbox controls on GTA4. 3) I love the large amount of feature Sony packed into the PS3: online play, online access, Blu-ray (hell no am I buying a separate player). The graphics are far superior to anything I've seen and for that, I love the PS3. Of course, it does burn a mighty big hole in your pocket. I like to play this by myself - I purposely hid the other controller because hey, my money, my multi-hundred dollar top-of-the-line gaming console!

The Idea of the wii is that you move around a bit when you play the games. rather then just press buttons. PS3 you sit down and press buttons to play. The graphic may be better on Xbox and PS3 but I prefer the wii moving around games. I enjoy playing big beach sports on wii

The difference is your Xbox360 will break, while your PS3 and Wii generally won't
