Can PlayStation 2 play DVD-R?

Why won't my Playstation 2 play all PS 2 games? The games that won't play on mine play fine on my friends PS2.

    Well there are 2 possibilities, one is ur playstation 2 might not have the chip to play those games or the secong one is ur lens need to be cleanes!!! the games you have might be blue bottom and well some ps2's dont have that featyre, u can get a chip to play those games, i believe only the new ps2's have the feature to play blue bottom games but u could get a chip to make ur ps2 play them!!! the second possibility might be ur ps2 lens are dirty, one advise would be to never leave ur ps2 cover open(the slim ps2s have the covers that open up and that can cause the dirt and dust to go over the lens) so only open the cover for puting cd's in!!! so u might need to clean ur lens, u could get a lens cleaner, just put the cd in and it will clean the lens, or u could clean them by using rubbing alcohol, but that is not too safe so i would go with getting a lens cleaner!!!

It could be the lens. But it could be because you have an original PS2 which after some time won't play blue bottom discs anymore. The new PS2's are programmed to be able to play the blue bottoms. It happened to my PS2.

You probably have one of the older PS2 consoles not the slimmer ones.

It's probally becasue ur PS2 is getting old and cheap. PS2 system is one of the best, but is really cheap

Are they factory original games or copies? If they are copies, it could be your friend has a mod chip. If they are factory original, try to clean your laser with a laser cleaning disc (or just blow air on the laser).

yea that did that to mine the lens might be dirty and the things that read the disk might be dirty

you need to cleans the lens on the laser just pick up a lens cleaning cd and run it on your PS2
