Does the 80GB PS3 play normal PS2 games?

The MGS4 80GB system will play most ps2 and ps1 games as everybody else has said. Most games. I am not sure but I've heard that region-blocking comes into play and some lesser known games may have defects. I myself bought the bundle a little while ago and it did fine with FFX and FFXII. To see whether or not your game will work, you can check the site in my sources.

Yeah, it plays PS2 games. And there is a website where you can check what games it plays. I don't have a link because I usually access it through my PS3 browser. Go to the Sony Bookmark that's already in there, and search (backwards compatibility) on the page. You should be able to find it

The 80GB models has a software emulator for the ps2 which means it Will play most ps2 games. They might not look exactly the same and they also might have some short-lived fault (bugs). Only the original 60GB model Will play them all since they have the original ps2 chips along with the new ps3 chips.

It plays most if not all PS2 games. It plays all the ones that I have. Chances are the PS2 games you're wanting to play, will play.
