    It's your connection to the host. If your in the UK and the hosts foreign your connection won't be as good and you'll lag. The only thing reasonable you can do is to upgrade your broadband connection. If it's wireless then check your router or again, upgrade

Right your router is dirty. Pour about 100cm^3 of water on the top of the router and leave it on for about 5 minutes.
