Well I currently have a rabbit. I thought she was a dwarf but Suprise. 3 months & a lot of food latter she hit a growth spirit. I've had rats before though & i prefer rats. BOTH are maintenance though neither are hard. Since you had a puppy I assume you want another bonding animal in which case i would say go for rats. I've always had females & they are extremely smart & friendly & will make you feel so loved when they lick your fingers. Both chew up your things. Both can be litter trained. Both should be kept away from car litter though. Rabbits just dont have that sentimental bond that rats give you & to me rabbits are more maintenance, as they are bigger they go to the bathroom more. My rats love strips of newspaper for bedding while I have to buy my rabbits bedding. Both are quite noisy but my rabbit has actually woken me up by running around her cage at 3 am & picking up her toys & banging them against her cage walls. Don't get me wrong I love her but rats are definitely the way to go

:( A rat since it is easier to manage

Personally i would go with guinea pigs they are bigger than rats but smaller than rabbits. They also have a tendency to cuddle and snuggle. They are also much cuter than rats and rabbits. But other than that choose a rabbit.

My sister and i once had a rat there very stinky and you have to maintain them alot. When we had our rabbit goerge before he passed. He was way easier then the rat was. We potty trained him to poop in a litter box(: I say go for the rabbit they also like to lay in your lap && love any vegetable you give them.

You should definitely get a rat :) I've had both and I personally found that rats are way smarter than rabbits and they also bond with you more than rabbits do. My rabbit didn't like being held or handled too often and I could only get her to sit with me for a few minutes before she would try to hop away. My rats on the other hand love sitting on my shoulder and being held. Whenever I even go near their cage they all go to the front and beg to be held! If you do get rats you should get more than one. I originally got two and 6 months later got a 3rd one and now I'm thinking of a fourth. They love having friends. Sometimes I find all 3 of my girls just laying on top of each other asleep and its adorable. But be warned about their lifespan. They are prone to some things like cancer and rumors and there lifespan is normally 1-2 years and some make it to 3-4 range. But that shouldn't hold you back from rats because in those few years you will have one of the best animal friends you'll ever have.

It is all personality. I've owned rabbits and most don't want to cuddle. However, some rats don't want to cuddle either. Males are more lazy..but that's when they are older. It depends on what your finances are. A rat requires a fairly expensive cage and in its two years is likely going to require medical care. They need to be let out for at least an hour a day, and do much much better in pairs. Rabbit cage's aren't always as expensive, I never took my rabbit to the vet but sometimes it can be necessary, most are fine alone, but they require a lot of time out of the cage to run around.

It is better to have Rat.. Because more care should be taken for Rabbits and you have be patience to handle a rabbit. If the Rabbit is habituated it will be very nice it will sit with you in sofa or on you, will eat with you, if its feeling hungry it will say you and will be back of you only. The thing is you have be very careful and only one rabbit cannot survey as it feels alone. If anyone are at home to accompany then its ok. if not you have to take two rabbits.

how z it!!!!!!!!!!?

I've owned both rats and rabbits and my personal opinion is that you will enjoy a rat more. They need less space, are cleaner, easier to look after and are a lot friendlier/more interactive.

DEFINATELY RATS. Make sure to get 2 though. they are easier to get close to and easier to satisfy them. a small shallow tub of water with some frozen peas can make them happy. I personally think they are less smelly than rabbits. You can also potty train them so their poop don't go everywhere... although they're still going to pee in places other than their tray. I love rabbits and all rodents but rats are very intelligent animals. Oh, and they extremely love cuddling with each other, and if they're tamed, I'm sure they would love to cuddle with you too. You should also know that male rats get BIG but they're lazy and not as energetic as females but the females are smaller. I raise 2 lovely girls of my own ^___^
