That pesticides create jobs is a flimsy, blanket argument. Anything that you can figure out how to produce, sell to people, and make a profit, will "create jobs" as you hire people to make you more money. The important issue is that pesticides are actually harmful to agriculture by destroying biodiversity and thus the fertility of the soil, in addition to the higher concentration of poisons in the air and water due to their use. You could counter by saying that building atomic bombs and guns creates jobs, or any other outlandish example, but then emphasize that does not mean it was good for humans or the earth.
