What effect will intensive farming have on the environment?

Part of the answer is that intensive agriculture is feeding billions of people in China and India. That may have a significant effect on the environment for those people. Having that many people fed in China is itself a major problem for the environment and anything needed to accomplish this has to be causing part of the problem. If China or India were not using intensive agriculture, of course we would not have that enormous population. Those countries could not even begin to feed themselves by importing, or by farming in a non-intensive manner. China and India could generate most of the fertilizer they need from their own feces, and in doing so reduce the amount of fecal material escaping into the rivers and oceans. Would this improve both the environment and agriculture? Yes, it already is. In this sense, getting every bit of animal and plant matter out of the water and returned to feed the land, while a part of intensive agriculture, is also a critical part of environmental management. But there simply is not an option but to use intensive agriculture.

Intensive farming has a lot of effects on the environment. It has the effect of air pollution especially when poultry, pigs, and cows are reared. Bad smells are carried by air and dispersed. This could lead to disease outbreak. It also has the effect of waste disposal problems. I am writing from experience.
