How to you add a picture to a Wikipedia article?

  • I already read the article on Wikipedia about how to do it, but it wasn't much help. Can some explain it to be... in simple language.

If you look at the left side of the screen with all the links, in the section titled "Toolbox", there is a link called "Upload file". Click this, and you can upload an image. Although, if it is a copyrighted image, you will have to explain that it is being used for a good reason. Then, when you edit an article, put [[File:example.png|thumb|this is an image about blah]].

If the picture is already on Wikipedia, or Wikimedia commons, all you need to do is input the file name like a wiki-link, for example: [[File:Example.svg]] For more detailed info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Picture_tutorial
