If I send a friend request on facebook and then cancel it will they get notified?

    If they saw your request before you deleted your friend request then yes. But if you deleted the request before they managed to see it then no they won't see a friend request or see a notification!

If you deleted the friend request before they saw it then no they wouldn't see the request or get a notification, but If they saw your request before you deleted the friend request then yes.

Most people are missing the point. If the person has email notifications turned on, the person will receive an email showing the friend request regardless of whether the request wad canceled or not. The question is, how long does it take for the email notifcation to send out?

None of these answers are true. I received a friend request notification today in the form of "an email" from facebook, same as all other friend requests. I logged onto facebook to accept it, as it was someone from my hometown, but the request was then "invalid", as in, it was there, but was cancelled. You cannot "suck back" an email after it's sent. The actual friend request may be deleted, but the email notification goes out immediately and cannot be recalled.
