What does a "poke" mean on facebook?

  • Someone has poked me, I don't know what this means? Anyone explain please? It says poke back. I don't want to poke someone lol

    Its a way of breaking the ice, since most ppl have many friends on facebook and not enough time to sit and chat wirh each and everyone, poking is a way of keeping in "touch" without actually speaking, its a way of letting them know your thinking of them.

hehehe! i asked the same question of a friend. it's just a silly behavior (like when in a high school classroom or in church when you were little and kept poking your little sis or buddy). it's something you do to tease a friend in a happy way. just do it back! (warning: poking can go on for firggin EVER!)

It's just a fun thing people like to do for fun, it doesnt really do anything.

haha it just goes back and forth. Like in real life you could poke someone, this is how you do in on facebook. Their are also "super pokes" which are awesome where you can do things like chest bump or eat brunch with or throw pie at lol! pretty cool:)
