Are school allowed to monitor your Facebook account outside of school time and not on the school premises?
-
In school, people are pulled out of lessons/registration when they create statuses not so nice but out of school time and not posting while in school. Is this allowed to be watched?

Answer:
If your profile is public, I don't see why not.

You are a minor and have no legal right to privacy. In college they dont care unless your harrassing someone. What you post online on Facebutt or Twatter (what I call them) can affect getting a job if an employer doesn't like your opinions too.

~~There is major crackdown going on right now from cyber bullies. So if it is public, and a student does something against school policy, action can be taken. It's about time, kids are killing themselves over these horrible cyber bullies. They are criminals.~~

The feds monitor everything on the Internet. People check facebook now when they do background checks on people for employment. If you make a fool out of yourself on facebook, it could be stored in some databank someplace and you would never know it. Believing that your facebook information is private because you set it private is very naive. The Patriot acts allows the government to do anything they want to citizens now.

Your Facebook is as 'public' as you allow it to be. Anybody has a right to look at it, and judge accordingly. I'm sure there are limitations as to what they can do about it, though.
