    Tools > Change display picture - very simple. or just open up a chat window with your friend and under the msn buddy you'll see a triangle (upside down) and just click it and it will give you the option of changing your picture/choosing one.

Ok, So you open up a normal chat and you will see your friends MSN picture there. Under your friends little picture, you will find your own little box with a picture of the "blue dude" In that little box, you click on the little arrow and then you click "Change Picture" or "Browse" and then you can click on the picture you want from your files :D Good Luck!!!
