    I don't know if it work well in every occasion, but try this way: Check the .NET Messenger Service Status http://messenger.msn.com/Status.aspx Remove any Internet Explorer proxy server settings In Internet Explorer, click Tools and then click Internet Options. In the Internet Options dialog box, go to the Connections tab. Click LAN Settings. Untick the Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) checkbox. Click OK and OK again Internet Options Click on the Start menu, select Run and type the following: regsvr32 Dssenh.dll Gpkcsp.dll Slbcsp.dll Sccbase.dll

This might sound simple, but did you uninstall and reinstall? SOmetimes the downloaded file is corrupted and getting a new version fixes the problems. Worth a try!
