Why are some people different on MSN compared to on the phone or in real life?

I ask because my girlfriend seems to be significantly nicer and more affectionate on the phone or in real life than she is on MSN. Why is this the case with some people? Thanks in ...show more

This mainly has to do with the anonymity offered by the internet. It is a well-studied phenomenon. People simply let their frustrations out in a "safe" environment where no one can personally identify them. This is true even if the anonymity is perceived instead of real.
