How do i get rid of the msn/windows live messenger virus?

I kno i was stupid for getting it... but that aside... does anyone kno how to get rid of it? i have windows live messenger i have virus searched my computer with avg and nothing ...show more

If you use a system restore, it will delete the virus, or go into your documents, and find the file and delete, or get an anti virus program for msn - windows live messenger.

Kaspersky and Trendmicro have free online scanners that should help. The link below has also known to be of assistance too. At any rate, I'd turn off system restore and scan until I"m sure it's gone. Then turn system restore back on. Reformatting is a rather drastic step and I would try these options before doing that. And I'd dump AVG and go with either Kaspersky or Windows live one care.

what virus is it? is it the one that sends files to your messenger contacts? if it is and the AV scans have not worked then try reinstalling WLM
