How do i get the old msn back?

How to I get my old MSN back, I hate this new 2011 version?

  • I can't use any additional plug-ins on the new MSN 2011 ... but I can't find the old MSN so I can install it back.

  • Answer:

You will have to: 1. Uninstall Windows Live Messenger 2011 and Windows Live Essentials in FULL. 2. Reinstall Windows Live Messenger 2009 with a standalone offline installer. The tutorial below tells you step by step how to do this.

Uninstall the new version & perform these steps before installing the old version (if you don't already have the old MSN Messenger setup file on your computer, search on google for it "MSN Messenger free download". Download & install it from there) Even though you uninstalled the new Windows Live 2011 version of the messenger, the details of its installation is still stored in the registry. We have to delete those strings in the registry 1st before you could install an old one. Just go through my steps: 1) Go to START>RUN or press 'Windows Key+R' & type REGEDIT & hit enter. (you need to have administrator privileges to execute this command) 2) You will now see a window. That's registry editor. 3) You need to backup the whole registry before making any changes. For that go to FILE>EXPORT. In the next, save dialog box, type a name & click save. 4)Next search for Windows Live Messenger in the registry. Go to EDIT>FIND & type WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER & hit enter. 5) It'll bring a vast amount of registry keys associated with that program. If you have much patience you can delete them manually, by just pressing DELETE key on the keyboard until it no more results are there. If any mistake happened, you can import the registry from the backup file. For that go to FILE>IMPORT & browse to the backup file you create & click on OPEN. 6) If you don't have much patience to delete them all manually, you can get free registry cleaning tool from internet. Just Google "Free Registry Cleaners" & you get lots of results. Choose anyone, download, install & run it. That's it. Hope This Helps & Good Luck.....

Just google "Windows Live Messenger 14". Though if you installed the "Live Essentials 2011" package, you'll need to get rid of the entire lot of programs to allow it to install WL 14. The new MSN crashes every five minutes for me, it's a total failure on Microsoft's part >.>
