Yeah it is hands down the most successful Olympics medal haul for Iran,and the highest the country has been ranked in the medals table.Iran took home more gold medals than nations like Brazil,Canada,and Spain. My country the U.S came in number one,but I read this morning that it still took home six fewer medals than in Beijing.And China also took home less than others expected,some predicted 102,but it took 87. New Zealand,Ireland,and other countries did better than expected.Afghanistan won it's second medal,just fours years after winning its first.Guatemale,Gabon,Cyprus,Bahrain,Gre... got their first medals.Eight Arab nations won a medal.Israel went home without a medal first time since 1988 summer games.South Africa and Kazakhstan did far better than expected,as well as Azerbaijan. Host nation Britain came in fourth,but still took home less medals than in 1908.Love these stats.
