sure, just pop it in the drive, and when the "Welcome to Windows XP" screen comes up, select "Install Windows XP" then at the setup window, select "Upgrade" and it will reinstall the Windows without messing with your documents. hope this helps

if the problem is just that you lost msn and messenger, you can just redownload them, or if you really want, yes you can re install xp from the cd. but you will lose all info that isnt backed up to another disk
