How do I stop MSN from popping up?

How can I stop MSN messenger popping up on my desktop every time I turn on my computer?

  • This really annoys me. My wife uses Hotmail, I use Yahoo but when I log onto my user on the shared computer, MSN messenger always pops up. How do I stop this happening?

  • Answer:

    Open MSN or if its already opened....at the top click tools and then you will see something that says "options" click that. A box should pop up. Then click preferences, then UNTICK the one that says "Run Windows Messenger when Windows Start" then click ok...that should do the trick!

In Windows Live Messenger go to Options where you can disable the automatic starting of the application when Windows starts.

Uninstall it from add or remove program and restart your pc once.

hello 1--on WLM 2009 and previous ☇log on MSN ☇tools ☇options ☇'sign in' tab ✓unable the automatic sign in options ☇apply/ok 2--then go to start menu ☇run ☇write msconfig ☇hit the 'enter' key ☇click start up ✓untick 'MsnMsgr' 3--WLM 2011 and windows 7 ☇on windows 7 ☇go to Control Panel ☇services ☇view local services (you have to be the admin to do that) ☇on the list scroll down till 'windows live ID Sign In assistant' ☇doubleclick on it ☇on the new window that appears look for STARTUP TYPE ☇select MANUAL now you have to click on the WLM icon on your desktop to sign in MSN hope this helped
