There are actually three of them, hotmail, live and com names with MSN and they all are using the same passport ID system so when you sign up for one of them you get the same ID for the IM service. All your friends have to know is your ID name and weather it is a @hotmail.com, @live.com or @msn.com and then you can be added to there list. They all work together.
