What is the alternative to MSN?

MSN alternative?

    Ive tried clients of all types and i'd have to say the Best 2 are Trillian.. which runs under windows and Pidgin.. which runs under Linux.. not sure about webcams with pidgin.. but Trillian supports em.

aMSN. It was originally designed for linux users to use MSN, but it works as a good alternative.

Other than downloading earlier versions of msn messenger which should be available on the microsoft website, you can download a programme called Pidgin (http://www.pidgin.im/) which is an open source programme. It's free and works in the same way as msn,meebo etc however it does not support webcams,that is, you won't be able to see webcams or use yours. Another alternative would be yahoo messenger which now allows you to import and all your msn contacts. Hope that helps.

You could try the yahoo messenger. I use it, it works fine. I had similar problems with MSN messenger too. You can download it from the yahoo home page.

use websites e.g. www.meebo.com and www.beejive.com they let you sign into msn anywhere in the world without actually downloading MSN but they have smiles and pics etc.

uninstall it and go to microsofts site.. download an earlier version like 5 or 6.. i had the same problem.. this fixed it

Messenger 6.0 is released on all Windows XP machines 8.1 in Vista. Messenger 8.5 has been released for a while. It's time to update. A quick internet search will get you to the download page. IF you use Mac or Linux, download aMSN. For Mac, go to the official website at http://www.amsn-project.net/ For Linux, you can probably find it in your software repository.
