How come the paralympics isnt as popular as the olympics?

People view on people with disability is still not great. The view are starting to change and have been since the pre games in Stroke Manville. The Paralympic have their own logo and torch. the first Paralympic logo was the tear drops from South Koroa and after Athen they changed it to the new logo. I one of many fan on face book for the Paralympic and have been since 92. Some well known able sport people are taking an interest in the Paralympics. So it not just people with disability or friends of someone with one that show interest in the Paralympics

because sadly a lot of countries don't take it seriously

To the person who said about no paralympic torch you need to watch the news, they had a silver instead of the gold one, and stopped at most i think if not all of the sites were the other torch relay was. I think its because the bbc didn't expect it to be such a big event in the Uk, I mean where I love they have a huge screen and tons of people are waiting to watch the opening ceremony on it! I guess it also depends where you live, i mean China, lets be honest they didn't even show a girl singing at the olympics in 08 because she wasn't pretty enough, so they wont have key air time. In the Uk paralympic website you can watch it live stream and choose from all the different sports. People are still very prejudice but times are chaning :D

The majority of people know a lot more olympic athletes than paralympic athletes. It's kinda a question of who do you want to watch. Plus, the media hypes up the olympics so much every year.

The Olympics are more popular, has more media coverage and is older. Unfortunately, interest in Paralympics is fairly limited to those who are disabled, relatives of athletes etc. it's also not as big an event in general - smaller budget and smaller scale. It only goes on for a week and a half compared to the full 2 weeks of the Olympics.

I usually get tired of watching the regular Olympics after the first 5 or 6 days. I'm not in the mood to watch anything similar until the winter Olympics in 2 more years.

Other than - as mentioned above/below, the commercial value - which I disagree with, the public are waking up to the paralympics. Ticket sales are through the roof, the event will be the biggest and best to date. Many people bought tickets for this because they could not get any others and wanted to see the park. A year ago when we interviewed potential gamesmakers few wanted to help at the paralympics, now they are showing interest.

wrong wnswer ayeyea...the media would cover it if there were money to be made. The fact is the public isnt as interested. As inspiring as the paralympics may be, they do not hold the general publics attention for very long.

A lot more people watch the Olympics than they do the Paralympics.
