Paypal offers insurance, I think it is up to $5000 but I'm not sure. Also try to buy from an ebay store or something. There is no way to absolutely be sure, but this is as close as you can get.

paypal will back your purchase if you use a credit card/debit card. your bank should back the purchase also.

If you get ripped off, you can always file a claim with eBay and PayPal, as well as a law suite.

Paypal offers some insurance as long as you use your credit card but to be honest, you're in the lap of the gods. I wouldn't use ebay for any major purchases. You never know if it's a fraudster who's hijacked someone else's account.

if the person is a power seller the are insured and e-bay and pay pal carry insurance for that purpose

read ebays insurance policy. I think its only up to a certain amount of money.... but double check. If your nervous about it, don't do it. Save and get a new comp. Or try craigslist, where you are able to meet in person, instead of shipping..

sorry, but i do not think you can be 100% sure the best way is to check the refferals and user rating of the seller. Try contacting the people they have done deals with for advice. However, this is again not 100% So basically, u are taking your chances

I was leary about my first eBay purchase also. You just have to make sure that the seller has a high rating. Look for the stars and points.

If you contact ebay and ask them about other forms of insurance i'm sure they can help you out. Other than that I think all you have to go by is what their feedback and how many people actually bought from this user and liked them. It's a risky thing dealing with ebay but good luck.
