You have a few good answers above, so I'll just address the Autocross (I think they're now calling it "Solo") portion. The links below will take you to the SCCA site. The second link is for the Northeast region which covers you. I did Autocross a bunch of years ago. It was fun, and although you don't have real racing interaction with other drivers, the pressure on you by the other drivers AND - especially - the clock will get your adrenalin pumping. A good place to start if you're still having problems finding somewhere to hone your racing talents. You'll sure learn how to control the car, drift, and yourself! Oh yeah, it's very inexpensive to get into Autocross. A [street] car which meets basic inspection standards, a helmet and seat belts, and you're about ready to go after you pay your entry fee. Good luck. EDIT: By the way, whatever you decide to do, you'd better get hopping. You're getting a little old to start. Most kids these days are starting serious racing at the age you originally became involved. You're close to being behind the curve.

Keep your pickup and fix it up to do some car hauling. Once you purchase a decent car trailer, that's half the battle right there. With one well built, decent car, you can do track days, autocrosses, maybe a little drag racing, or some rally crossing. You need to get a subscription to Grassroots Motorsports magazine. They have tons of info on entry level racing series. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ http://www.iwannagoracing.com/ In the current issue is a story of one driver who purchased a $500 car, fixed it pretty cheaply, and has done autocrosses, track days, and some race events. You don't have to go broke to go racing.
