    If you think racing for a living is easier than being a hockey player you are wrong. There are WAY more pro hockey players than there is pro race drivers. Stick to hockey, you don't stand a chance as a race driver unless you have been racing since you were 13 and have a ton of money. Racing locally costs thousands of dollars, it isn't a side job, and you will not make money even if you win every week.

Not sure what you mean by side job, you don't really think your going to get payed to race do you? sorry but it doesn't work like that, if you are lucky enough to get payed it means you started racing go karts by the time you learned to walk and have a natural ability at racing which your parents have spent many thousands of dollars to get you to that point. you don't just go to a racing school and get a job as a race car driver.
