Is it possible to race series like IndyCar, Grand Am, and ALMS @ the Indianapolis Motor Speedway MotoGP track?

Reports making the rounds online indicate that the newly installed head brass at IMS will be looking more deeply at the profitability of the NASCAR and Moto GP races for the future. Since ticket sales for the 400 have been way down from previous years and the ability of Goodyear to produce a viable tire is still in question, we may see a cut back of other races at IMS instead of an increase when contracts come up for renewal. Also, apparently F1 was reignited as a possibility at IMS again with this past Tuesday's announcement. The fact that both Michelin and Goodyear encountered tire problems at IMS is reported to be something that deeply troubles the Speedway. Right now, they don't know if those were two isolated misses in tire design or if there is something wrong with the track which needs to be fixed. It might be the best course of action in the short run for IMS to go back exclusively to what they know and do best: Indy Car Racing.

I know the MotoGP track is somewhat different from the F1 layout, but I don't know exactly how. I assume that to have F1 run on the road course, special modifications would have to be made, because the FIA has strict standards as to the tracks, or something like that. I could see the ALMS racing there... how about the 24 heures du indy?
