    1. Turn your new jeans inside out 2. Trace with a marker or chalk slightly inside the seams 3. Sew along the seams, then turn them back right-side out after you're done 4. Try on the jeans and adjust as needed 5. Cut off excess fabric You could also just put some pants that fit you well on top of the jeans and trace along the sides.

If you aren't too worried about accuracy, just find the leg seam that is NOT doublestitched (topstitched)--most likely the inseam--and stitch down each side about 1/4 to 1/2 inch in from the existing seam, tapering slightly to meet the existing seam near the crotch and near the bottom hem. If you want to be more scrupulous, put the jeans on inside out, and pinch in the amount on each leg you think you want to take in. Then, mark that distance with chalk on the side you will be sewing on, and again, taper the stitching out to meet the original seam at the crotch and at the hem. This should be enough to give you the fit you want.
