What is the best snowmobile overall?

Looking for best snowmobile?

  • I am wondering what is the best snowmobile on the market right now. Something that has a good amount of power (nothing too fast) but is able to go through deep snow and take some ...show more

  • Answer:

Well, actually, the sleds, today, are all pretty much all fast, no matter, if you get a twin cylinder, or, a triple cylinder. I, myself, have a Yamaha. with the extra long track, or, as it is more commonly known as, is, is the mountain track. It has plenty of power, though, it is rather fast, being, that it has a 750c.c engine. And, as far, as going through the deep snowm it does this, well. Also, it will take some pretty high jumps, as well. I had a Ski-Doo, that was comparable, to the Yamaha, but, the Ski-Doo had way more speed, and, would bog down, in the deep snow, getting it stuck, most of the time. So, that got traded off, for this Yamaha. But, I didn't get the electric start, on it. I wish I would have. It does run well, just, that it takes a bit of muscle, to get it started, in the first place. They do turn over, hard. Because, of all the compression. There is a compression relief lever, provided, however, it really does no good, at all. A friend of mine, has the exact same sled, only, with electric, much easier to start, indeed. Although, I have this much newer sled, I also have a 1971 Ski-Doo Alpine 399 ER... Now, this machine, may be old, but, it will out pull most any other sled, made, today. Not only that, but, it will also climb a mountain side, with no trouble, at all. It will even pull anything behind, with no problem, at all. And, further more, this sled, is the tops, in the deepest snows, and, the snow drifts. I have gone through snow, that was halfway, up the hood, and, the sled, didn't bog down, once. I stopped, several times, just to see, what would happen... It just powered right through it, with no problems. This sled has electric start, and, reverse, from the factory. Two pulls of the rope, and, it is running, even in the coldest weather. this sled, is no longer made, but, you can find them, fairly easy, actually. They were made, from, the late 1960's to the late 1980's. Ski-Doo also made another model, known as the Elan. It was the same basic sled, just that it had some different styling. The Alpine and the Elan, were actually made, for the ski resorts. They were able to pull a lot of weight. If you can find one of these, and, it is reasonable, pick it up. You won't be sorry. This sled has many uses.

I'd go for a Kawasaki, if they make those. Get a yellow one, they are the coolest.
