Which is easier for a beginner - snowboarding or skiing?

    It's easier to learn to ski rather than board. We won't teach a child until they are 6 because of the neuro-muscular needs for boarding vs. skiing (i.e. it's easier to teach a snow plow on skis than it is to carve on a board) However, once you get good enough to get on the lift, it's easier to become a proficient boarder than a proficient skier. There's so much more to skiing than boarding. They are both fun to try. Whatever you decide to try, take a lesson. I can't tell you how many never-evers get taken up the lift by their friends, only to be freaked out because they can't stop. First rule of the code: be in control. That means knowing how to stop/turn. Remember, a bad day of skiing/boarding beats a good day at work!

i think skiing is easier, but snowboarding is more fun. if you're clumsy you might lean toward skiing because when you get off the lift, its a lot easier than when wearing a snowboard. i used to skii a little when i was in 1st grade and i don't recall it being difficult at all. i snowboard now and although i can't remember much about skiing, i'd say its harder to control. if you decide to go skiing, just remember not to point your feet outwards unless u like doing the splits going down the slope and dont stick the poles in the snow when ur moving :)

Skiing! I snowboard, and a lot of my freinds ski and I have found that people who snowboard fall down and hurt themselves a lot more!
