How much does it cost to check a snowboard?

I fly Southwest Airlines all the time with my snowboard. Generally you only get charged if the bag is over the weight limit (usually 50 lbs on domestic flights) or if you are checking it as an extra bag. If you pack your carry-on smart and put the rest of your gear in your snowboard bag but keep it under 50 lbs. you should be OK. You usually have to sign a waiver on oversize bags saying the airline isn't responsible for any damages to it. Remember: wet gear on the flight home weighs more than dry gear. American charges "at the rate from $75-$97" for over-sized. Unfortunate. Perhaps your Mom's gold membership can get them to waive the fee. Best of luck.
