    Homewood, about 15 miles south of Squaw Valley is a great place. It never gets crowded there, so there is always room for beginners, and they have some nice easy trails to start on, plus instructors to help. Also Squaw Valley is nice. They are running a deal for their snowboarding classes $25 gets you an instructor, equiptment, and beginner lift ticket. Both of these resorts are on the west side of the lake just south of Truckee.

heavenly for sure...lots of beginner/intermediate terrain...some of the other resorts are more geared towards advanced skiiers

heavenly is a nice place. it is in south shore. It is more of a drive than resorts on the north shore. But heavenly offers a lot!
