Should I get a wide snowboard?

Should I get a wide snowboard?

  • I wear a size 11 boot. I like to ride park. If I get a regular board width, will it effect me by catching on rails and stuff

  • Answer:

what boot are you running this year, and what binding do you plan on running this year. those are factors involved in your decision as well. Size of boot doesn't tell many people anything as it is a factor in the rest of the details. ideally, you can be short between 5'0 to 5'5" and have a size 11 boot, with a narrow stance, and thus need a shorter board. Then you would have a specific need for a wide board with a minimum of 255mm waste. Or you can be taller, than 5'5" and ride with a wider stance, and not need such a wide board. Last thing to consider, stance angles. Higher stance angles wouldn't need you have a wide board, where as angles closer to 0 degrees would have you standing straight across the board, and cause you to have some toe/heal overhang.

It would be better if we knew the size and model of the boards you're looking at. some companies make wider or narrower 'normal' boards than others.
