What is the difference between true twin shaped snowboards and directional shaped snowboards?

Is there a big difference from the way snowboards were made ten years ago to how they are made now?

  • How does the difference, if any effect the overall boarding experience/

  • Answer:

boarding technology has come a very long way. my sister uses to have a 10 year old board. it was a laminated wood core witch made is very stiff and very heavy, not much flex but could take a lot of abuse. now we uses composite materials like carbon fibers and fiber glass, making them lighter and more flexible.

Ummm, yeah. You can compare it to the way technology has changed for consumer goods like computers and phones. If you went back to october 2001 and showed anyone a macbook air or iphone 4, they would burn you for being a witch. Same thing with snowboarding, if you were to go back and show someone boards with reverse camber, bindings made of composite materials, ud get a literal head blowing up reaction.

go on to the burton website and look at some of the tech in there boards. that **** wasn't around even 5 years ago (maybe some) but now burton is starting a new way for bindings called the channel and it gives you complete control over your bindinghttp://www.burton.com/mens-boards-custom-flying-v-snowboard/252290,default,pd.html?start=1&cgid=mens-boards&srule=best-sellers
