What's the difference between an adult snowboard and a youth snowboard?

Youth boards have a lower weight and not as strong. also smaller going to like 130cm. adults have a wider stance and all the best boards.

Hi It'm pretty new to snowboarding. However, what I do know is that it's not just length, that is important, but there's the weight capacity of the board. For example, I'm quite short and am only 8.5 stone. I could easily save some money and get a junior snowboard, but juniors as a rule are expected to have a smaller BMI than adults i.e. they may be the same height as me but weigh less. Therefore for some manufacturers I could get away with a child's board, for others I'd just be too heavy. I'd recommend going into a good shop (Ellis Brigham in the UK are good...they gave me some good advice) and asking them roughly what length you need (the more advanced you are the longer board you will need too...beginners need smaller boards a. cos they're just learning to control the board and b. cos they're lighter and easier to maneouvre). In EBs they have the weight capacity for each length normally tagged to the board, but if you browse the manufacturer's websites they normally have this info in the technical spec. Then buy it cheap off Ebay lol. Let me know how you get on! Good luck. I'm just about to buy my first board so am in the same boat. Oh and ps don't forget there are different boards for park use to 'all mountain', and ones with more/less flex depending on whether you are advanced or a beginner etc...so don't get one suited to an advanced trickster if you are just starting out!

Youth is smaller? that's normally a good thing to think.
