How bad is an extra 5 cm of snowboard?

If I am 5'0, would a 130 cm snowboard work for me?

  • I am thirteen and 5'0, and I want to get a new snowboard. I found a youth Burton snowboard that would work for me, and it is 130 cm. Would this be too small for me? Should I go with ...show more

  • Answer:

I think that would be a good size for you this year. But your only 13 and will probley outgrow your board in a year, you should buy a different brand and save some money cuase Burtons aren't the cheapest boards around. If you buy a Burton you should buy one a bit longer so it can last you a while.

As far as bindings go, definitely buy women's. If you're 5"0, you probably have 6-7 size feet. So go for women's small bindings. The reason I say this is because the highback (the highback being the part that holds your heel in) on women's bindings tends to be constructed lower because women's calves naturally sit lower on the leg than men's. As far as the board itself goes, I'm not too picky on whether it's a guys or gals board. If you like pink and girly designs, go for the gnarr chick ride. A 130cm would be a good size if you plan on sticking to freestyle. If you wanted to do a little more pow then you could always go for a 131 or a 133.

130cm would be a good fit for your description.
