I am also new to snowboarding and I didn't really want to spend a large amount of money on a top brand board. So i bought a morrow truth and I know a lot of people talk this brand down but for this season this board has been really good to me it has good flex and control plus I only spent 100 dollars on it. I would say if you are really serious about snowboarding and know that you will do it for a long time and will get good use out of an expensive board then buy a top board. I have demoed a burton and a ride board but I honestly couldn't feel a difference but maybe thats cause I'm a noob. I am happy with my purchase and I would recommend a morrow board. Well, it matters what you like after experiance. these are a few good brands though, Burton, Rome, Ride, Flow, K2, Atomic. look into them, get a board that seems right for you, and you'll be all good!
