you want to live in south shore and then just drive to the mountains or walk to Heavenly...if you live in south shore you can actually have somewhat of a social life too..besides heavenly is a gnarly resort (i cant believe i just said gnarley)...

I agree with the other guys. Northstar is best damn resort in the North. Squaw season passes are like 1300 bucks compared to N* at 400. Besdies N* has a kickass park. The only places in the south are Heavenly, sierra and kirkwood. Kirkwood is all steep terrain for skiers. I like parks and such and they dont seem to have as many good ones down south. But there is no night life in the North. south lake tahoe is pretty chill and there are a lot of casinos and stuff. The only towns in the north are like Truckee, and smaller ones like kings beach and such. Truckee is 20 mins from Northstar and Reno is about 35 mins. North is best place to ride, but you will find more tang in the south.

Tough question. North is much better for boarding - Squaw, Northstar, Homewood and Alpine are all excellent mountains. Problem is there's not too much else going on - there's a couple of small towns and truckee is about a half hour away. South really only has Heavenly mountain, but there's much more to do down there if you're going to live there full time. Plenty of people live in North Lake, and Reno is 50 minutes away from North, but it's a tough call. You really need to check it out yourself. Good luck.

I would say the north side its better for snowboarding in my opinon while the south is for skiing, and Northstar is my favorite resort ive ever been too which is on the North side
