Polarized vs mirrored goggles/sunglasses?

  • hi! i was looking at ski goggles, but i didn't get the difference between polarized vs flash(mirrored) lenses.. what's better for skiing/snowboarding, and what are the differences??

    Basically if your going to be doing a lot of skiing during the day during bright light then flash or mirrored lenses are perfect. But if you plan on going on cloudy days or dark days then you won't be able to see a lot. plus if you go at night you wouldn't be able to see through the Blue light as they call it when the lights are out. that's why polarized goggles are more rarely seen because they are good for any weather.

i fiond many goggles come with lenses that are for not very sunny cinditions beware! i like my old vonzipper lenses, they work well, they are slightly mirrored atleast, but this year im stoked on my smith's i bought some dark brwon lenses for em

I will choose the oakley polarized sunglasses.Oakley produces the best polarized lenses on earth,so it can protect your eyes from UV rays.

most of the above answers seem pretty good, how ever it is important to know that polarized goggles will not offer much benefit over non polarized unless you will be in the water. The main point of polarization is to reduce glare off of water. They offer little help with snow glare.

I found all the polarized are great for sunny conditions but not so good for low light. If your going to have a lot of dull low light go for some light yellow, golds, rose etc... if your going to board/ski in lots of sunny conditions then go for your polarized and fire lenses.
