What are good headphones for snowboarding/skiing?

Answer:
Iv been skiing for about 2 or 3 years whilst listening to music (in total iv been skiing since i was 3) and it has made me a faster skier as it distracts you from some dangers so kind of making you braver and it gives you a rythem to match. I can tell you that putting in-ear headphones in your ears whilst skiing is a really bad idea, because they are designed to block outside noise it will make you completely oblivious to everything that you dont see, ranging from people shouting at you telling you you've gone the wrong way or that your about to ski into a hazard (i.e. a cliff, a cornice or another skiier who you've just skied in front of) and from my own painful experience a few years back i got stuck into a few tunes with my skullcany buds (which i used also because they fittet tidily inside my helmet) and we were headed through a forrest off piste and apparently the guy behind shouted at me to stop because their was a 15foot cliff face coming up and we had to go round it, anyway i went on and ended up unconcious 20ft away from the edge of the cliff. Thats why i dont use them whilst skiing anymore. And imagine on a run if something similar happened, and you ended up flying into other skiers or boarders taking them out, you could kill them and im not joking it has happened and it would be your fault. But anyway... if you get standard headphones, yes they will be more safe but after a while if your wearing them under a helmet then they hurt like a ***** after an hour so avoid them. But anyway il tell you what to get instead of what not to get. What i use now are in build headphones into my helmet, i got a set that i installed myself but for next season im getting a new helmet form k2 with them already installed. I beleive that RED also manufacter them with burton and the k2 ones are designed by skullcandy so youll get amazing sound quality whilst you ride. Not a helmet wearer? (well you should it might save your life it did do for mine but anyway) iv seen beeneies with a similar system in them on the net and there is one similar i think on IWOOT.com but yes they are a bit more exspensive than standard helmets but i can tell you that you are getting your moneys worth... anyway (again) hoper i helped cheers cammy

Snowboarding with earbuds under a helmet is usually very uncomfortable and sometimes makes it impossible to hear anything around you which is dangerous on the hills. If u want to spend some money u can get a helmet that has built in speakers in them but they start off at 100 bucks.

yah Skullcandy stuff is pretty good. I also like the Sony earbuds. Sound quality is important to me. I don't like wearing headphones because I always wear a helmet. The feeling of the headphones being formed into the sides of your head isn't too wonderful. I do look at the packaging and compare the sound range each pair of earbuds performs at. The prices vary. Even ones that look cool but have a shorter sound range may be priced near the same as a quality set. I would recommend getting ones that perform from around 6Hz - 25MHz (6-25,000Hz). Most cheaper ones are like 10Hz-18MHz or even 20Hz-20MHz. It's up to you but I pay the $30-$40 and set the cord up so as not to tug on my ears when I ride. Trust me. Get the better set and then you shouldn't have to crank the vol if your buddy says something when he right next to you. Unless it's your absolute favorite song - then who cares, right?

headphones good for snowboarding skiing?? ones that play music loud! you dont have to get designer headphones to be cool, im rding with boarders and skiiers landing misty nines and they just use gummy headphones you get for like 3 pounds. seriously you dont need expensive headphones for riding just wear normal headphones that will slip under your hat or helmet! :)
