When and where did skiing start?

I want to start skiing or snowboarding?

  • I want to do either snowboarding or skiing, I'd like to snowboard because it seems to look more fun easier to learn is this the case or do all snowboarders start skiing first?

  • Answer:

Just start off with snowbaording its not that you can do more on snowboards its about the same on skies or snowboard. just its all about haveing fun when you ride so you can pick but i heard if you start snowboarding(i snowbaord) than go to skiing its alot easyer than going from skies to snowbaord becouse of the balance facter. and unlike what GEESUS said you cant do more on snowboard than skies realy it balances out.vand ski tricks some of them look way better than snowbaord like the Kangroo Flip that looks sweet when in slow mo.

I would agree that you should learn what you want to learn. I admit I have done both and can 'get round'. But snowboarding is so much more fun...with skiing falling over is scary cos you can easily have your legs in different directions and seriously injury/break something. At least with SBing your legs are going in the same direction! Even the falling down is fun...reminiscent of childhood fun in the snow. I would say skiing is easier to learn as it's a much easier stance (both feet forward rather than going down the slope side on), however, I love SBing so much (and have only just learnt!), that I would never go back to skiing (only for variety on holiday or something). I found staying upright no probs at all...it was the stupid fecking turns that got me lol. And the sodding poma lift...I fell off that so many times when I was learning it defied belief. Good luck and most importantly have fun!

Just because it seems like more fun. It is a pain is the ****. I admit I'm not in my best physical shape these days. since I only started gym this semester of school. But woooh, climbing up the learning area hill for snowboarding is so tiring!I REPEAT "LEARNING AREA". Your thighs get week, if you have them Beyonce thighs like me, LOL. But unlike her, their filled with fat not muscle, lmfao. Then the lift is kinda scary... The first 10 seconds me and my friend forgot to put the safety bar on so the people were shouting "SAFETY BAR!". Lastly, I fell down many many many many times. And I stayed on the hill for like about an hour LOL. Snowboarding takes a lot of practice and physical strength and stamina and balance. And clearly I do not have those down ... YET. Hopefully you learn from my painful yet ignorant experience. I went to my first snowboarding lesson with a mind like yours "Snowboarding looks so easy". Pffffft HELL NAW. As for skiing, I learned that pretty quick, grade 4. I'm in grade 9 now. And I just went snowboarding earlier today since 9 o'clock, till 4.

If you want to learn how to board don't bother learning to ski first. That's like saying "I want to learn French so I'll take some Spanish classes first." Sure, there are some similarities but not a lot of transferable skills. Snowboarding is definitely not easier to learn than skiing. From my experience it takes 3-5 days up before you can do a run without falling at all and being in control and not too afraid of your edges. From that point getting better is really easy.

SNOWBOARDING IS MUCH HARDER! But it is much funner. Skis are easier to learn but you can't do so much on skis as you can on a snowabord (Terrain, moulins, etc.) By the third time you should be good on snowboards (full days. not 2 hours trips)

Snowboarding is A LOT HARDER than skiing is to learn. Snowboarders are much better athletes than skiers, it takes a lot more work to learn how to snowboard than it does to ski, thats why most old people can't snowboard because they don't have what it takes And not everybody starts skiing and then goes to snowboarding. I learned to snowboard and thats what I've done ever since. Don't get overconfident about snowboarding being easy to learn. And it will take a lot longer than 2 or 3 times to get good at it. It will take years to master. You may be able to stand up on the bunny hill and to entry level beginner runs after 2 or 3 trips but you're certainly not going to be in the park or cruising down the double diamonds after that length of time.

I've done both before and to start out I'd go with snowboard. As a beginner the whole "pizza and fries" concept in skiing is a pain in the ***. Snowboarding you have one thing to worry about, while skiing you have two. Plus you can get nutted on a rail skiing, where as you can't snowboarding. Take it from me you should snowboard first and youll learn it within one or two times
