I live in New York as well and I've been all over for riding but I don't do boxes and all of that so I can't help you there. As far a runs, one of the most challenging mountains I've been on was Whiteface in Lake Placid. Gore, Jiminy Peak and Killington are good mountains, too.

haha that sucks i go out west every year and i couldn't imagine comin here. well i live in Syracuse N.Y and i go to labrador Mountain its alright. Its a small mountain but they all are. They try to make up for the size by spending all there money on the park. so its priddy good. They have like 20 rails 10 boxes a twenty footer, 30 footer, and 65-70 footer. Gore and Bellaire are good mountains 2 there kinda far from my house so i only go like 1 a year. GOOD LUCK

Loon got rated #6 in the top 10 parks of north america by transworld snowboarding (the only on the east coast in the list) also waterville valley, mount snow, okemo are popular with parks (waterville has more contets than anywhere) if you want pow ride jay peak it always has like a foot of fresh pow

I've ridden a Loon a couple of times and they do have a couple of nicely built and maintained parks. I get the overall feel that it's geared a little more towards the beginner and intermediate park rider. Although some of the hits on their big park are about as big as I've seen anywhere else. The only problem with Loon is that it's far. You're talking probably 4.5 hours from NYC. Some locals might suggest Mountain Creek but I personally tend to avoid it. It's just way too crowded for me. Personally I think the best mountain for riding park is Blue Mountain in PA. They've been going after snowboarders like crazy and just spent a ton of money expanding their main park and it's huge. Their biggest jump is probably about 50ft and they've got hits I've never seen before like a big yellow school bus, this thing called the swingset, and some downright crazy rails (one looks like a rollercoaster). The stuff is so big that most folks actually avoid it on the weekends but I've heard that the local throw down during the week. Only drawback to Blue is that they have a pretty small pipe. Otherwise it's a great place to ride park. I would check out their website and see for yourself.

you probably wantto head up to Vermont, lots of good mountains there.. Stratton, Stowe. Killington is probably the most "Known" of that region..

From what I've heard from New Yorkers, the best and closest place for you is Mount Snow in Vermont. Depending on where you are in N.Y. it's probably only a couple hours and its probably the best big mountain in the North East if you ask me. Great place to board with plenty of park stuff
