Boots are just about the most important thing you can buy and will have a major impact on how well you ride and how comfortable you are doing it. On the inside most boots follow the standard sizes so if you are a 9-9.5 shoe I would start by trying on a size 9 snowboard boot and then trying a size larger and a size smaller. Just keep in mind that the liners of brand new snowboard boots haven't "packed in" yet so a boot that feels quite snug (in the toes) in the shop should be just about perfect after a day or two on the mountain. As for outside...not all boots fit all bindings well. This is especially true if you use flow bindings that are a little less customizable. Definately bring your bindings if you can to the shop and see how your boots would sit in them. Don't worry too much about brand and stuff. Everyone's feet are so different that you really need to figure it out for yourself. My advice is to visit a couple of shops and try on as many boots as you can until you find the boot that's right for you. Good luck.

same situation as me, my feet are around 9-9.5, and I didn't want to spend much money either. if you already have the bindings, getting the new boots shouldn't matter at all. The bindings are already around the right size, and remember you can always adjust the straps. I got northwave boots, they were pretty cheap too! I honestly hadn't even really heard of the brand until I got them. I love the way the look, they're so comfortable and warm, and are a good boot for all around the mountain!

Nephroid and DK Julie have pretty much summed it up. You need to try on a range of boots by different brands and buy the ones that fit your feet the best. They should be tight but still comfortable, your toes should brush against the toe cap of the boot, and when you lift your heel up the heel of the boot should follow your foot rather than fall away from it. Generally brands like Vans/ Thirty Two suit people with wide feet and brands like Northwave/ Rome/ Salomon suit people with slimmer feet, Good Luck.

DC Shoes makes some nice boots, just make sure to buy 1/2 size larger than you normally would as they tend to run 1/2 size too small. I've heard good things about 32, and also Northwave for comfort. I think boots are really important because if the fit isn't right and your feet are cramping or killing you in some other way you're not going to be able to keep going. Go to a shop and try them all one. Don't buy a pair that is uncomfortable in the store, it won't get better on the slope. It is true they will pack down a bit after use, but you shouldn't be having discomfort when you try them on. Go to a good specialty board shop, not some huge chain sporting goods store. That way you can get a knowledgeable salesperson that can help you make a wise choice.
