They wouldn't work. Besides, one of the greatest parts of snowboarding is finally throwing the brutally uncomfortable ski boots away. Snowboard boots are comfortable and flexible, and you don't slide on those damn metal stairs that every resort in the world builds specifically to watch skiers fall down them after slipping with those hard plastic boots. Rent some boots. They are cheap. Probably free with board rental actually. When skiing, you transition from edge to edge sideways, so no flex is needed in the ankles. When snowboarding you have a toe and heel edge, while your body remains centered and balanced over the board. Therefore, you need some flex in the boot for your ankles, and to protect your legs from impact. Imagine pushing your knees down towards your toes for a good solid toe side edge on a snowboard. You feel the top of your soft boot pressuring your shins. Imagine hitting a bump now. Your ankles flex to adsorb the impact, the boot presses into your shin, but is soft and supportive. Now, imagine you do that with rock hard ski boots. You might as well beat your lower legs with a piece of pipe. Very uncomfortable, even if they did fit in the bindings, which they wouldn't.

Ski boots and snowboarding boots are designed differently.

NO.

Alex

No. The technique is completely different. With skiing, you need stiff boots. With snowboarding, you need soft boots to control your board and feel the ride. You can hire snowboard boots and board as part of a package. Enjoy!

No matter what binding set up you have they are not compatible with a snowboard, even if they were it wouldnt work for a beginner. Soft (soft) boots are best for starting to ride.

If you get an alpine board with hard boots and plate bindings they'll work, but you really need to get real snowboarding boots to appreciate snowboarding for what it's worth.

Alex
