What brand of snowboard should i buy?

Burton, although you don't need one if you're just starting out. K2, Lib-Tech, Nitro, and to toss some others in Ride, Rossignol, Salomon, and maybe Rome, although Rome might not be something you may want just yet. They're better known for park. I'd say k2, although Lib-Tech's stuff with their magne-traction is pretty sick, and their boards are pretty good. If you're on the east coast, I'd probably recommend a Lib-Tech with magne-traction. 5 ft...uh...probably around a 140 or less. How much do you weigh? If you're average, it should come between your nose and chin. Don't get Flows. Burton's or Rides. EDIT: Just because you're a skier and post negative comments on the snowboarding section doesn't make you cool!!!

forum, ride and rome are the best burton is good except only burton binding work on them

Lib.-Tech. and Gnu are the best brands right now. Burton sucks.

The board should be in between your nose and your chin. um get a mini k2 zepplelin if i were you, thats what i started on. Its top of the line and an all around board. Nobody wants to ride just powder or just park. Other good brands are Burton, Ride, Sims, Batalion (sweet board), flow (for bindings), and rome. For bindings just get light aluminum bindings w/ fiberglass. Plastic is for toys.

No rosingnol has the best snowboards. I ride an Alias. and it is great for both backcountry and the park. Burton is only good if you do one or the other. Since I switched to Rosingnol, I have beat my brother ( who was on skis) down a slope, and landed table tops with ten foot bigger gaps
