Where can a 13 year old get a paper route job to pay for figure skating?

    At 13, there aren't many jobs you can get. Toronto papers are delivered by mailmen or adults hired by the newspaper company, not teens. At 13, you're a little too young to get a job. In Ontario, you need to be 14 to get a job. At this point, your best bet is to ask the head coach or owner of the arena if you can help out at the rink in exchange for ice time. Most arenas have a can skate program that will offers credit towards your lessons if you volunteer coach the can skate program. Also, keep in mind that in High School, you need to get 40hrs of volunteer time in order to graduate, so make sure you leave time for that. EDIT: Ok, just because I was curious, I asked the guy who delivered our Sunday paper this morning if he knew how old the youngest person who delivered papers was (that he knew of). He said EIGHTEEN. Your friend may have family or friend connections that got him that job, but 13 year olds cannot do paper routes in Toronto.

I would doubt a 13 year old would be old enough for a paper route...as well as that, paper routes tend to be ridiculously poorly paid. At 13 you're not going to get paid enough for any job to make a huge difference to the cost of your skating.
