    umm this is a bit late but ull love skating. use figure skates. and bend your knees spread your hands and move in a slow pace then pick up the pace and do a few tricks like glides one foot glides, swizzles learn themon about.com or search in youtube

I would recommend renting the figure skates over the hockey skates, at least this way you'll be able to bend a little more and also have the use of the toe picks in case you need an emergency stop LOL:) Other advice when skating, bend your knees and put your arms out to the side to balance. Even if you find yourself hugging the wall for the first few times around, give it a try and let go of the wall:) Or, hold on to one of your friends for some added balance. I think that you will have a blast!! Have fun:)

OMG ur going to love it!!! ok, well, if u've never skated before, i would suggest hockey skates, because figure skates have a toepick on the end for jumps, and u could catch that on the ice and fall. well, make sure NOT to wear jeans because they restrict ur movement. also, wear gloves, no matter what u think!!! when u first get on the ice, dont try to go really fast because i guarantee u will fall... just hold onto the wall for a bit and when u get confident skate on ur own... have fun skating!!!
