Answer:
I do both so can help clarify a few points 1.Any coach worth their puff will make sure you are a strong solo dancer before doing ANY partner work. 2. It's not swoony "oh I get to hold a boys hand"- I have an amazing relationship with my partner but it was incredibly akward at first. And its not that type of situation at all! 3.Although my partner does his best to stop me falling(and me him) there are situations where we've landed on top of each other or there's just no stopping it. Ice dance is hard- try to be in time with the music nevermind another partner is difficult. Once you've been lifted and done pairs spins then tell me its nice to have someone hold your hand.

Please lose the 2 words like and literally from your vocabulary. Or learn how to use them properly. Now to the question. Dance is hard and you can't rely on your partner to drag you through it. Take the class and go with figure skating

Wow! Where is that school? Figure skating or ice dancing are classes? First find out if there are any advance requirements to enroll in these classes, like having passed certain skating competencies or test levels. Then if possible enroll in your choice, which sounds like ice dancing!

The likelihood of you getting a dance partner as a teenage beginner is pretty much none and Buckley's. You are a beginner skater; you are a long way from being able to learn ice dance. Ice dancers must have the basic figure skating skills first. This isn't Ice Princess, you know. You aren't going to magically get a partner straight off and just start dancing. You'd be lucky to be passing your first solo dances in a year or two...but more likely longer. EDIT: You think you'll be good enough to be an ice dancer after one summer class. I don't know whether you are being absurdly arrogant or just plain ignorant of the actual difficulty of figure skating...
